THE SCHOOL OF SOUND SUMMER WORKSHOPSAugust 2008 THE SOUNDTRACK at SCREEN ACADEMY SCOTLAND and THE IAN TOMLIN SCHOOL OF MUSIC NAPIER UNIVERSITY, EDINBURGH The School of Sound will be running two three-week practical workshops exploring the soundtrack in fiction filmmaking, concentrating on the creation of a soundtrack for a short film, and music composition. Combining creative decision making with the technical and professional demands of contemporary screen production, using practical exercises, intensive tutoring and lectures to integrate professional post-production techniques with creative and theoretical concepts. The workshops are aimed at directors, editors, sound editors/designers, composers, music supervisors/producers, artists - anyone who works with sound or music in the screen arts. They are specifically designed for those wishing to pursue continuing professional development. Course 1: THE SOUNDTRACK: SOUND and EDITING Course 2: THE SOUNDTRACK: MUSIC FOR IMAGE The courses will be held full-time Monday-Saturday in August 2008 during the Edinburgh International Festival.
